Big Move
Well, it's time. After thirty-plus years of life in San Francisco, from piss-in-the-sink Tenderloin hotels to the three-story Victorian in which we've raised our kids, we are moving to Portland, Oregon. Yes, it's true. My wife, who works in the film industry, has been offered a plum gig and I'm following her up there. I like Portland, although I haven't been there in even or eight years. It's awfully white, though. My youngest daughter, when she contemplated the move, asked what Portland's diversity index was. A good question, so I checked the 2000 census. 76% white, 6% African-American, 6% Hispanic, 6% API... white bread.
